Aspen First Movers

Meraki is an end-to-end inclusive solution that kickstarts the first-mover challenge, mobilizes Key Opinion Leaders alumni, holds d&i recruiter targeted webinars, and leverages social media platforms to increase fellowship awareness & brand equity.

The Challenge

The First Movers Fellowship by the Aspen Institute staff team seeks new strategies for identifying and reaching suitable First Mover Fellowship candidates. The team is specifically interested in strategies that would help it to reach typically underrepresented groups across the US: people of color; people in core business functions; people in B2B companies; people and companies based in ‘middle America’ – outside of the coasts. How do we effectively make use of a diverse cohort?

The Research & Insights

  1. Aspen will have to target the right kind of people to get diverse talent on board. Diversity and inclusion recruiters help share a voice with talented people across different backgrounds and experiences. 

  2. Many types of diversity can be addressed. Not only colors but also the diversity of background, culture, mindset, skills, values, etc. 

  3. Instead of verbalizing diversity through text, instill the idea through visuals. Rethink the way we ask about race and ethnicity. Exclusion happens when we solve problems using our own biases.
